Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Team Lead for our Android app to own core product work, write code, review PRs, and guide the team to reliable nightly builds. You will balance hands-on development with leadership, ensuring features ship end-to-end while maintaining high quality.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in software engineering, deep Kotlin experience, and a track record of shipping long-running background work and robust Android UIs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and Android app architecture (MVVM/Clean Architecture).
• Experience shipping and maintaining long-running background work and media playback.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end from design to release.
• Review PRs and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team and ensure reliable releases with automated checks.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to enforce team constraints early.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive learning within the team.
