Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Kraków is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to define and evolve AI capabilities across digital service solutions. You will ensure AI models, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled services are architected, governed, and integrated into end-to-end service operations.

This role requires experience designing or governing AI/ML in industrial or IoT environments, strong cloud, MLOps, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities, with a focus on explainability and lifecycle governance.

Qualifications

• University degree in CS, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience designing or governing AI/ML solutions in industrial or IoT contexts.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end AI pipelines: data prep, model, deployment, monitoring.
• Experience with cloud platforms, microservices, and MLOps.
• Ability to translate AI techniques into operational outcomes.
• Experience across R&D, engineering, service, and digital teams.
• Strong communication to influence architecture decisions.
• Experience with LLM-based or agentic AI is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI governance, ethics and regulated environments is meriting.

Responsibilities

• Define and own AI R&D capability strategy and architecture.
• Establish architectural principles for cloud-native delivery and scalability.
• Translate service and domain needs into AI models and designs.
• Design and govern AI model lifecycles, including validation and deployment.
• Ensure AI outputs are actionable, interpretable, and aligned with business objectives.
• Lead the design and governance of agentic AI workflows across service operations.
• Collaborate with data platform, digital platform, and IT teams for scalable pipelines.
• Establish AI quality, explainability, bias mitigation, and ethics controls.
• Contribute to AI portfolio alignment and standardization across solutions.
• Act as a technical authority guiding architecture decisions.
