Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Research Scientist in Kraków to advance AI-enabled methods for power electronics design, simulation, and validation. You will accelerate workflows by integrating AI with engineering tools and collaborating with domestic and global teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, model validation, and translating complex engineering pain points into scalable workflows for HVDC and grid-connected platforms.

Qualifications

• PhD preferred or MSc with strong industrial R&D experience in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Solid foundation in power electronics (e.g., MMCs, grid-connected converters).
• Hands-on AI/ML experience applied to engineering or physical systems.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or PLECS and coupling data-driven with physics-based models.
• Excellent English communication and teamwork across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-enabled software workflows to enhance power electronics design, simulation, and validation.
• Drive applied research in AI/automation, optimization, surrogate modelling, and data-driven methods.
• Design and validate exploration, performance prediction, and system-level optimization of converters.
• Create AI-assisted simulation pipelines with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, and PLECS.
• Collaborate with local and global teams to ground AI solutions in practical challenges.
• Disseminate results through reports, patents, and publications.
