Job summary

NerdySoft, a dedicated software development partner, builds fintech solutions for a client creating a fresh digital banking and payments platform. You will shape architecture, mentor engineers, and drive delivery in a mixed client–NerdySoft team with AI-assisted development as part of daily practice.

The role emphasizes leadership in a fintech setting, architecture decisions, secure API design, and hands-on coding while collaborating with client tech leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial backend development with Java (17+) and Spring Boot.
• 2+ years as Tech Lead or Team Lead of 3+ engineers while still writing code.
• FinTech background is mandatory: banking, payments or lending products.
• Experience with asynchronous event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS).
• Designing secure public APIs for external integrations.
• AWS and Docker experience including CI/CD and database migrations.
• Strong testing culture (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers).

• Lead and mentor a team of 3–6 engineers with hands-on coding
• Shape the architecture of a new event-driven backend and own technical decisions
• Build reliable integrations with banking and payment providers
• Ensure security and regulatory compliance including PCI DSS
• Create and onboard AI powered SDLC processes
• Deliver features end-to-end from design to production support
• Break down scope, estimate and plan with Product Manager
• Be the main technical contact for client stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor ateam of3–6 engineers while staying hands‑on: atleast half ofyour time isproduction code
• Shape the architecture ofanew event-driven backend and own technical decisions inyour area
• Build reliable integrations with banking and payment providers— idempotent, traceable and easy toreconcile
• Make sure the solution meets security and regulatory requirements, including PCIDSS
• Create and onboardAI powered SDLC process and help the team adopt them with clear rules for review and testing
• Deliver features end toend, from technical design toproduction support
• Break down scope, estimate and plan delivery together with Product Manager
• Bethe main technical point ofcontact for client stakeholders
