- Conduct thorough supplier due diligence covering manufacturing capacity, financial stability, quality systems, certifications, delivery performance and warranty support.
- Lead international negotiations on pricing, lead times, payment terms, warranties, claims and long-term supply agreements.
- Plan purchases against production schedules and sales forecasts, particularly for components with long lead times.
- Develop alternative sources of supply and reduce dependence on any single manufacturer.
- Coordinate deliveries with production, logistics, quality and finance.
- Build the procurement team as production scales.
Requirements

- Experience establishing or developing procurement processes and teams.
- Strong skills in supplier qualification, negotiation and performance management.
- Ability to understand technical specifications and bills of materials well enough to work with engineers and compare technically compliant offers.
- Ability to assess total purchasing value, including quality, delivery reliability, warranty terms and supply risk.
- Fluent English for negotiations, correspondence and contract work.
Strong advantages
- Experience in energy storage, power engineering, electrical equipment, industrial automation or machinery.
- Direct experience working with Chinese manufacturers, including negotiations, factory audits and claims.
- Procurement experience in serial manufacturing, factory launch or production ramp-up.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory planning.
What to assess during recruitment
Ask the candidate to walk through a significant purchase they personally managed: how they selected and verified the manufacturer, what terms they negotiated, how they monitored delivery and how they resolved any quality or schedule problems.
Role boundaries
- Role boundaries: The Head of Procurement owns supplier relationships, commercial terms, orders and delivery execution. The CTO and engineering team approve technical requirements; the quality team assesses component conformity; and the COO owns factory operations and the production plan.
