Job summary

GATX Rail Europe is seeking a Team Lead for GCU Claim Handling & Strategic Procurement to lead the European procurement and claims function. The role combines high-level strategy with hands-on leadership for a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, international environment.

Responsibilities include establishing framework agreements, managing GCU claim handling, and driving sustainable procurement strategies while collaborating with operations, finance, and legal. Travel ~20% is required.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the freight wagon industry or logistics.
• Proven leadership experience managing a team.
• Extensive expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and claim management.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Analytical, structured, and solution oriented mindset.
• Willingness to travel (~20%).
• Very good command of Polish and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and further develop the Strategic Procurement function
• Establish, negotiate, and conclude framework agreements with Railway Undertakings (RUs), logistics service providers, material suppliers, and refurbishment workshops
• Functional and disciplinary leadership of the European GCU Claim Handling Team
• Full responsibility for claim management in line with the GCU, including escalation handling
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies
• Monitor KPIs, manage suppliers, and assess risks
• Collaborate closely with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal
