Job summary

GATX Rail Europe is seeking a Team Lead for GCU Claim Handling & Strategic Procurement in Warsaw. You will lead and further develop the Strategic Procurement function and the GCU claim handling team, while coordinating with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal to ensure robust supplier management and risk mitigation.

The role requires solid leadership experience, strong negotiation and contract drafting skills, and proficiency in Polish and English.

Qualifications

• Several years of strategic procurement experience.
• Experience with GCU knowledge is a plus.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Strategic Procurement function.
• Negotiate and conclude framework agreements with RUs, logistics providers, suppliers, and workshops.
• Provide functional and disciplinary leadership of the European GCU Claim Handling Team.
• Own claim management in line with the GCU, including escalation handling.
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies.
• Monitor KPIs, manage suppliers, and assess risks.
• Collaborate with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal.

Team Lead GCU Claim Handling & Strategic Procurement (m/f/d)

Your main responsibilities:

• Lead and further develop the Strategic Procurement function
• Establish, negotiate, and conclude framework agreements with Railway Undertakings (RUs), logistics service providers, material suppliers, and refurbishment workshops
• Functional and disciplinary leadership of the European GCU (General Contract of Use) Claim Handling Team
• Full responsibility for claim management in line with the GCU, including escalation handling
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies
• Monitor KPIs, manage suppliers, and assess risks
• Collaborate closely with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal

You are a good fit if you have:

• Several years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the freight wagon industry or logistics
• Solid knowledge of the GCU is an advantage
• Proven leadership experience
• Extensive expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and claim management
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills
• Analytical, structured, and solution oriented mindset
• Hands on attitude
• Very good command of Polish and English
• Willingness to travel (approx.20%)
