Job summary

GATX Rail Europe is seeking a charismatic leader to head Strategic Procurement for the freight wagon environment and to professionally steer the GCU Claim Management. The role covers both strategic sourcing and team leadership across Europe, with a focus on establishing long-term framework agreements and risk management.

You will lead a cross-functional team, collaborate with technical, market, finance and legal departments, and travel approximately 20% to oversee suppliers and partners.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in strategic procurement in logistics or freight wagons.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Extensive expertise in contract drafting, negotiation and claim management.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Fluent in Polish and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and further develop the Strategic Procurement function.
• Establish, negotiate, and conclude framework agreements with RUs, logistics providers, suppliers, and refurbishment workshops.
• Functional and disciplinary leadership of the European GCU Claim Handling Team.
• Full responsibility for claim management in line with the GCU, including escalation handling.
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies.
• Monitor KPIs, manage suppliers, and assess risks.
• Collaborate with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal.

Your main responsibilities:

• Lead and further develop the Strategic Procurement function
• Establish, negotiate, and conclude framework agreements with Railway Undertakings (RUs), logistics service providers, material suppliers, and refurbishment workshops
• Functional and disciplinary leadership of the European GCU (General Contract of Use) Claim Handling Team
• Full responsibility for claim management in line with the GCU, including escalation handling
• Develop and implement sustainable procurement strategies
• Monitor KPIs, manage suppliers, and assess risks
• Collaborate closely with Technical Operations, Market Operations, Finance & Controlling, and Legal
