Job summary

GATX Rail Europe, a leading railcar lessor, seeks a Senior Business Analyst Controlling (m/f/d) to advance automation and standardization across European Controlling. You will manage budgeting, forecasting and reporting while partnering with IT and business teams.

The role progresses toward broader operational Controlling duties and strategic finance initiatives in a multinational environment. fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• University degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Business Informatics or a comparable field.
• 7-10+ years of professional experience in Controlling, Finance Transformation, Business Analysis or comparable functions.
• Proven track record in process optimization, automation initiatives and project management.
• Strong understanding of controlling processes, planning, forecasting and management reporting.
• Experience working with ERP and BI systems, ideally SAP and Power BI.
• Knowledge of data modelling, reporting architecture or business intelligence solutions.
• Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of financial statements.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a hands-on mindset.
• Ability to translate business needs into practical systems and process solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive the implementation of our controlling development roadmap and identify further improvement opportunities.
• Analyze, redesign and optimize controlling processes with a focus on automation, standardization and efficiency.
• Identify and implement digital solutions that reduce manual effort and improve data quality and transparency.
• Lead cross-functional improvement projects and coordinate stakeholders from Controlling, IT and the business.
• Design and implement new reporting solutions, dashboards and performance management tools.
• Further develop budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes and tools.
• Participate in monthly closing, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare management reports, business analyses and decision support.
• Partner with management and operational stakeholders.
• Identify risks, opportunities and performance improvement measures.
