Job summary

Billennium is seeking a hands-on Forward Deployed Engineer to translate complex business needs into scalable, production-ready technology solutions. You will work directly with clients and Billennium teams to design approaches, build prototypes, integrate systems, and deploy solutions into production.

Ideally, you enjoy solving ambiguous problems, working with end users, and taking ownership across the full solution lifecycle, from design to delivery, with strong communication throughout.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a client-facing technical role (QA engineering/solution engineering/technical consulting).
• Experience designing and developing backend services, APIs, or full-stack apps.

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on and customer-focused Forward Deployed Engineer who can translate complex business needs into scalable, production-ready technology solutions.

In this role, you will work directly with clients and cross-functional Billennium teams to understand operational challenges, design appropriate technical approaches, build prototypes, integrate systems, and deploy solutions into production. You will combine strong software engineering skills with business curiosity, adaptability, and clear communication.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, working close to end users, and taking responsibility for the full solution lifecycle rather than focusing on only one part of the technology stack.

What You Will Do

• Partner with clients to understand their business processes, technical environments, data, and operational challenges.
• Translate business requirements into practical solution designs, technical specifications, prototypes, and production-ready applications.
• Build and deploy end-to-end solutions using modern software engineering, cloud, data, automation, and AI technologies.
• Integrate solutions with client systems, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and third-party services.
• Test, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve deployed solutions to ensure reliability, security, performance, and usability.
• Work closely with software engineers, architects, data specialists, product teams, and business stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Capture reusable components, implementation patterns, documentation, and insights that can improve future client deliveries.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of commercial experience in QA engineering, solution engineering, technical consulting, or a similar client-facing technical role.
• Experience designing and developing backend services, APIs, integrations, or full-stack applications.
• Practical knowledge of relational or non-relational databases and confidence working with structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Understanding of modern software delivery practices, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and containerization.
• Ability to analyze complex or initially unclear business problems and convert them into achievable technical solutions.
• Experience working directly with customers, users, product owners, or business stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic delivery environment and, when required by a project, collaborate directly with clients on-site.
• A proactive, pragmatic, and ownership-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Nice to Have

• Experience building or deploying AI, machine learning, generative AI, or large language model solutions.
• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, prompt engineering, AI agents, or model evaluation.
• Experience with data pipelines, analytics platforms, data engineering, or MLOps.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration technologies.
• Previous experience in consulting, professional services, implementation, pre-sales, or proof-of-concept delivery.
