As the E-Invoicing Product Owner, you will serve as the premier technology lead and business partner within the COE. You will have a dual mission: to help actively construct and scale the newly formed COE capability from the ground up, and to set a clear, strategic product direction for our global e-invoicing solution. This role is highly collaborative, bridging the gap between our enterprise tech teams (such as Solution Architects, Developers, and Engineers) and global finance, procurement, and commercial business stakeholders. You will ensure we deliver a compliant, robust, and friction-free product that integrates with core business cycles like Order to Cash (O2C), Invoice to Pay (I2P), and Record to Report (R2R).
The E-Invoicing Product Owner is accountable for the overall product vision, delivery pipeline, and stakeholder alignment for our global e-invoicing capabilities. Core accountabilities include:
- Strategic Vision & Product Roadmap: Define, champion, and execute a multi-year tech product vision and agile roadmap for the global e-invoicing product suite. Ensure alignment with the overall Finance – Enterprise Technology strategy and evolving international tax mandates.
- COE Setup & Capability Build: Play a leading role in the initial design, operationalization, and growth of the new Global E-Invoicing COE. This includes establishing Agile governance structures, operating models, intake mechanisms, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Business & Functional Partnership: Act as the strategic technology liaison and trusted advisor to high-level global business counterparts, including Global Tax Leads, O2C/I2P Process Owners, and Regional Finance Controllers. Translate complex business, legal, and operational needs into high-impact product features.
- Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery: Hold end-to-end accountability for defining, prioritizing, and maintaining the product backlog. Drive the iterative execution and delivery of compliant tech solutions in close partnership with development teams, ensuring compliance is achieved ahead of regulatory deadlines.
- Value & Adoption Maximization: Ensure that newly deployed e-invoicing capabilities are widely adopted and that business value (e.g., increased invoice automation, reduced manual processing errors, enhanced digital auditability) is fully realized and measured.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Governance
- Define and communicate the product strategy and execution plans to executive stakeholders, including the Finance Technology Senior Director and Finance COE leadership.
- Keep abreast of upcoming regulatory changes globally (such as the EU's ViDA initiative, Peppol network expansion, and regional clearance models) to proactively adjust product priorities and delivery milestones.
- Establish standard product management frameworks, governance principles, and demand prioritization models within the COE.
- Define, write, and prioritize Epics, User Stories, and Technical Enablers, establishing clear, measurable acceptance criteria.
- Lead standard Agile ceremonies as the Product Owner, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Product Demos, and Retrospectives.
- Collaborate closely with the E-Invoicing Solution Architect and Tech Engineers to evaluate technical feasibility, estimate delivery efforts, and resolve cross-team dependencies.
- Define MVP (Minimum Viable Product) requirements for country rollouts, balancing immediate regulatory compliance with long-term platform scalability.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Management
- Manage the relationships and expectations of multi-functional global stakeholders across Tax, Accounts Receivable (O2C), Accounts Payable (I2P), General Ledger (R2R), Legal, and Security.
- Lead Change Management initiatives for new market integrations, ensuring that local finance operations are well-prepared, trained, and equipped to transition to new compliance platforms.
- Gather constant feedback from end-users (finance associates, shared service centers, external vendors/customers) to continually improve user experience, platform performance, and automation levels.
- Partner with third-party software vendors, integration partners, and e-invoicing cloud providers (e.g., SAP, Sovos, Pagero, Tungsten, etc.) to understand their product release notes, coordinate platform updates, and influence their external product roadmaps to benefit our organization.
- Establish operational SLAs and oversee vendor performance tracking, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and do not disrupt business operations.
