Job summary

Kalmar in Stargard is seeking a Development Engineer – Mechatronics to influence the full lifecycle of vehicle control systems. You will split time between electrical design using E3 software and hands-on production support in a collaborative, local team with global exposure.

The role requires a higher degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics, about 5 years of relevant experience, and a working knowledge of CAN topology, 3D CAD tools, and Danfoss Plus+1 PLC programming.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of professional engineering experience preferred in mobile heavy machinery or automotive.
  • Higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in E3 electrical design; PLC programming with Danfoss Plus+1 is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of control systems, CAN bus topologies, and 3D CAD.
  • SEP qualification valid up to 1kV.
  • English at least B1, written and spoken; high autonomy and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Custom Engineering: develop and maintain vehicle control systems; electrical designs using E3 and 3D CAD.
  • Production & Product Support: provide technical support to Production, Sourcing and Quality on site.
  • Testing & Validation: conduct on-vehicle software testing, functional safety checks, and control system validation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with global project managers, sourcing teams, and local production lines.

Join Kalmar in Stargard as a Development Engineer – Mechatronics in our Sustaining Engineering team. Working in a close-knit local team, you will have a direct impact on the entire product life cycle. This position offers a balanced focus between electrical design and production support/custom engineering.

What Are Your Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Custom Engineering (50%): Develop and maintain vehicle control systems, create electrical designs using E3 software, and handle 3D CAD & software development tasks.
  • Production & Product Support (50%): Provide direct technical support to Production, Sourcing, and Quality teams to solve complex electrical and control system issues on site.
  • Testing & Validation: Execute on-vehicle software testing, functional safety checks, and control system validation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with global project managers, sourcing teams, and local production lines.

What You Bring To The Role
  • Experience: preferably 5 years of professional engineering experience (preferred background in the mobile heavy machinery or automotive industry).
  • Education: Higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical fields.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in electrical design using E3 software (asset).
    • Hands-on PLC programming experience Danfoss Plus+1 (asset).
    • Solid knowledge of control systems, CAN bus topologies, and 3D CAD tools.
    • Basic familiarity with Functional Safety principles.
  • Certifications: Valid SEP qualifications (up to 1kV).
  • Soft Skills & Languages:
    • Minimum B1 English level (communicative written and spoken).
    • High level of autonomy in electrical problem-solving.
    • Proactive attitude, open communication, and attention to detail.
