Billennium is seeking a Database Developer to design, implement and optimize the database layer for enterprise solutions. You will collaborate with Data Modellers, Solution Architects, and developers to deliver scalable, high-performing database components.

You will work in an agile environment, building robust schemas, tuning performance, and maintaining data integrations across connected systems. A strong focus on data quality and documentation is expected.

About the role

We are looking for a Database Developer to support the solution during the design and implementation phase. You will be responsible for building and optimizing the database layer and data integrations that power the solution. Working within agile project squads, you will collaborate closely with Data Modellers, Solution Architects, and developers to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing database solutions.

Your responsibilities

• Implement physical database designs in PostgreSQL based on specifications provided by Data Modellers and Solution Architects.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain database objects, including schemas, queries, indexes, functions, and stored procedures.
• Work with semi-structured data, leveraging JSONB and related technologies while ensuring optimal performance.
• Design, build, and maintain integrations with connected systems through APIs and ETL/ELT processes.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, reliability, and performance across integrated solutions.
• Support testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing enhancement of database components.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for database structures and integration logic.
• Follow enterprise architecture and data modeling standards defined by project stakeholders.

Must have

• Current or recent (within the last 12 months) experience working with the pharmacy industry.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database development and performance tuning.
• Experience designing and optimizing schemas, queries, indexes, and database logic.
• Practical experience working with semi-structured data, particularly JSONB.
• Experience building and maintaining API-based integrations.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration patterns.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in agile delivery teams.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences projects.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL monitoring and advanced performance optimization techniques.
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise integration environments.
