Remitly is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Kraków to build and deliver features across the UFA platform. You will tackle core services, ledgers, and money movement with strong correctness guarantees, while collaborating with global teams and partner banks.

The role reports to a Kraków-based Engineering Manager and sits in a high-impact, growing fintech platform. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in backend software engineering, proficiency in Java/Kotlin/Go, and cloud production

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Java, Kotlin, or Go, and experience building scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience running production systems in the cloud (AWS or similar), including on-call rotations for high-availability services.
• Solid grounding in relational and non-relational databases and data-modeling trade-offs at scale.
• An instinct for correctness and operational risk, and the judgment to know when it matters.
• Experience communicating updates to customers and partners and collaborating across time zones (Seattle). B2+ English.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfort using AI tools across the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver features across the platform, focusing on core services and APIs.
• Tackle hard distributed-systems problems like consistency and idempotency.
• Help bring new regulated markets live by implementing licensing and safeguarding requirements.
• Deliver work from design to production readiness within cross-team initiatives.
• Participate in design decisions, weighing trade-offs for maintainability, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with partner teams and external banking/payment partners.
• Contribute to design and code reviews to raise quality across the team.
• Work with Product and Operations to clarify requirements and manage risk.
