Job summary

ARQ is a rapidly growing fintech redefining how people move money across borders. We seek a Backend Engineer to design and maintain scalable, secure backend systems powering our products in Kraków.

You’ll work on greenfield projects and modernize existing platforms, building REST APIs and microservices with Java, Spring Boot, and a Postgres stack, while emphasizing clean code and fast, reliable delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with fluency in Java.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other Engineering/Science disciplines.
• Fast learner with an ambitious, results-driven attitude and strong English communication (verbal and written).
• Track record of building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups.

Responsibilities

• Greenfield development and improvement of existing systems.
• Build REST APIs, engineer microservices and evolve systems our business depends on (card payments, treasury management, transactions booking, crypto liquidity).
• Tech stack relies on Java on the backend with Postgres database; Spring Boot for delivery; focus on clean code, maintainability, and CI/CD with TDD and DDD.
