Job summary

Balcia is seeking an analytical Accountant to lead full accounting for the Polish branch and support the German branch in line with regulatory requirements. The role focuses on accurate documentation, tax filings, and preparing management reports in a fast-paced, international environment.

You will coordinate with auditors and banks, ensure data accuracy, and leverage MS Excel and ERP systems to streamline processes. A Polish tax expert with German language readiness is valued.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in an Accountant role; familiarity with financial services or insurance is a plus.
• Practical knowledge of Polish tax regulations and the Accounting Act.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of German accounting and tax regulations, with readiness to work with German compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounting for the Polish branch in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Post and process financial documents, including invoices, bank statements, and other accounting records.
• Prepare tax returns and filings, including VAT, CIT, and PIT.
• Prepare financial statements and internal management reports.
• Cooperate with auditors, banks, and other internal departments.
• Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy of accounting data.
• Support accounting processes for the German branch in line with German regulations.
• Prepare and maintain financial records and manage accounts payable/receivable.
• Communicate with German-speaking clients, brokers, and partners on finance matters.
• Assist with monthly closing processes and financial reporting.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Get ready to:

• manage full accounting for the Polish branch in accordance with applicable regulations

• perform account reconciliations and identify and resolve discrepancies

To fit here you'll need:

• at least 2 years of experience in an Accountant role; experience in the financial services or insurance sector will be an advantage
• practical knowledge of Polish tax regulations and the Accounting Act
• basic to intermediate knowledge of German accounting and tax regulations, with readiness to work with German compliance requirements
• experience working with financial and accounting systems
• very good knowledge of MS Excel
• very good command of Polish (C1 level)
• good command of English (B2 level)
• good command of German (B2 level)
• independence, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
• good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
• experience with Microsoft Dynamics Axapta will be considered an asset
