Job summary

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited is seeking a Deputy Manager Litigation to oversee prosecution and defense in lawsuits to safeguard the company’s interests. The role involves coordinating with departments, preparing initial legal views, and liaising with external counsel to advance litigation strategies.

The incumbent will prepare and vet legal documents, represent the company at hearings when required, and provide risk analyses and status updates to management and PAC.

Qualifications

• Must have a law degree with Bar enrollment.
• 3 years of relevant experience.
• HEC-recognized degree required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in gathering amendments to laws and regulations and present to supervisor for review.
• Coordinate with Head Office departments to collect documents and follow up on suits and other matters needing Legal input.
• Prepare initial legal views on issues/cases using existing laws and research; share details with external counsel and outline company perspective for litigation.
• Assist in drafting and execution of Vakalatnama for appointment of legal counsel.
• Coordinate with external counsel to initiate and follow up lawsuits where the company is a plaintiff or respondent.
• Develop and review drafts, briefs, replies, and supporting papers to reflect SSGC’s viewpoint and protect its interests.
• Represent SSGC at hearings when required and participate in preparation and service of legal notices.
• Seek clarification from relevant departments to determine the company’s stance.
• Vetting and input on legal documents with risk analysis and impact assessments.
• Support in representing the company before arbitrators or in settlement discussions outside court.
• Maintain relationships with court officials to facilitate document copies and filing.
• Provide updates to PAC members on ongoing cases when needed.
• Prepare status reports on lawsuits and ensure safeguards for the company’s interests.
• Generate periodic risk-related reports for management and advise on changes in laws.
• Mentor junior legal staff in drafting and pleadings; comply with risk management framework.
• Participate in risk management activities across the organization and perform other duties as assigned.
