Job summary

RLK in Pakistan invites applications for a Nephrology specialist. The role focuses on specialized clinical management, supervision of junior staff, and active participation in teaching and training of undergraduates and postgraduates.

The position requires MBBS or equivalent registered with PMDC and FCPS/MD in Nephrology, with PMDC registration mandatory. Experience in teaching hospitals and renal units will be preferred, along with research contributions as per PMDC standards.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized and registered with PMDC.
  • FCPS/MD in Nephrology or equivalent postgraduate qualification recognized/registered by PMDC.
  • PMDC registration mandatory.
  • Foreign PG qualifications must be recognized/equated by PMDC.

Responsibilities

  • Specialized clinical management with increasing autonomy under consultant supervision.
  • Supervision of junior staff including medical officers, house officers, and trainees.
  • Advanced procedures and assist in complex surgical/clinical interventions.
  • Emergency response leadership within the department and ensure timely interventions.
  • Ward rounds and case presentations to consultants with clinical insights.
  • Teaching and training for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees.
  • Clinical documentation with detailed patient records and case summaries.
  • Participate in clinical research, audits, and publications per PMDC requirements.
  • Quality improvement through morbidity & mortality meetings and departmental audits.
  • Interdepartmental coordination for referrals and multidisciplinary care.
  • Compliance with PMDC regulations, hospital policies, and ethical standards.
  • General responsibility: any other task as assigned by management.

Job description

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized and registered with PM&DC.
  • FCPS/MD in Nephrology or another equivalent postgraduate qualification in Nephrology recognized/registered by PM&DC.
  • Valid PM&DC registration is mandatory.
  • Candidates holding foreign postgraduate qualifications must have the relevant qualification recognized/equated by PM&DC. PM&DCs current recognized Pakistani PG qualifications include FCPS and MD in Nephrology.
Experience
  • Preferably 5 years of teaching or practical experience in the relevant specialty, before or after the postgraduate qualification, with preference generally given to:
    • Teaching experience.
    • Practical experience after postgraduate qualification.
    • Practical experience before postgraduate qualification.
  • Relevant experience in a recognized teaching hospital, nephrology unit, dialysis service, or tertiary-care setting will be preferred.
  • Experience in managing complex renal cases and participating in postgraduate/undergraduate teaching will be an added advantage.

  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensure adherence to PMDC regulations, hospital policies, and ethical standards.
  • General Responsibility: Any other task assigned by the management.
