Job summary

Mashreq is seeking an experienced lawyer to lead drafting and review of Islamic banking documents across Murabaha, Ijarah, Wakala and related structures. You will support business teams with day-to-day Islamic legal queries and escalate complex matters to the Senior Legal Counsel.

You will develop and maintain precedent banks, templates and knowledge bases, while monitoring AAOIFI standards and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

Minimum 8–10 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law.
Demonstrable exposure to Islamic banking products and Shariah-compliant documentation.
A recognized law degree and licensure.
Certification in Islamic finance or Islamic banking is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Draft and review Islamic banking documentation (Murabaha, Ijarah, Wakala) and related facility and security documents.
Provide day-to-day Islamic legal support on business-as-usual queries and escalate complex matters to Senior Legal Counsel.
Maintain Islamic legal precedent bank, template library and clause library.
Monitor AAOIFI standards and regulatory developments affecting the product suite.
Collaborate with business teams and Shariah governance to ensure robust documentation outcomes.
Keep matter trackers and documentation logs up to date across locations.
