Job summary

Mashreq Careers is seeking an experienced legal professional to draft and review Islamic banking documents (Murabaha, Ijarah, Wakala) under the guidance of the Senior Legal Counsel. You will support day-to-day Islamic queries, track matters, and contribute to policy and template development across a global Islamic product suite.

Applicants should have 8–10 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law, with exposure to Islamic finance.

Qualifications

Minimum 8-10 years' post-qualification experience in banking and finance law with exposure to Islamic documentation.
Law degree from a reputable university with admission to practice.
Certification in Islamic finance (e.g., CIFE, AAOIFI CSAA) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Draft and review standard and recurring Islamic banking documentation (Murabaha, Ijarah, Wakala, etc.) under Senior Legal Counsel guidance.
Provide day-to-day legal support on Islamic queries for business teams and escalate high-risk matters.
Support product updates, AAOIFI standards, and regulatory changes affecting documentation.
Monitor Shariah and regulatory developments impacting Islamic product suite and documentation.
Develop and maintain Islamic legal templates, precedents, and clause libraries.
Maintain matter trackers, logs, and turnaround reporting for Islamic work, including App4Legal records.
Conduct legal research on Islamic finance structures to support Senior Legal Counsel.
