Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a data/analytics related field from a recognized institution.
• 5+ years in data analytics or governance with supervisory exposure.
• Proven leadership and ability to build high-performing teams.

• Expertise in data analytics, data quality and data security practices.
• Experience with SQL, BI tools and cloud platforms (Azure/Power Platform).

The Institutional Data, Analytics and Reporting (IDAR) function is a critical decision support unit within the Office of the Provost, and a trusted source for information with regard to Academic Admin Data. It is to provide timely, consistent, and reliable information about AKU, and to support academics in decision making through evidence-based analyses including data-driven narratives and visualizations. It is also to assist the academics in financial matters as well as in planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Institutional Data, Analytics and Reporting, the Manager will be responsible for advancing the University's data management and analytics efforts. The role will oversee strategic data initiatives, strengthen data governance and quality, and collaborate with senior management and relevant stakeholders to align data strategies with the University's objectives.

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

• Lead strategic data management and governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and institutional requirements.
• Develop and implement data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices to strengthen data accuracy, consistency, security, and reliability across the University.
• Oversee the design and delivery of advanced analytical reports and dashboards to provide timely and actionable insights for senior management and key stakeholders.
• Work closely with departments and cross-functional teams to support data integration, consistency, and the successful implementation of data-driven initiatives.
• Serve as a key point of contact for data-related matters, providing advice, guidance, and support to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
• Provide financial insights through data analysis to support annual planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making processes.
• Lead, supervise, and mentor the team, fostering continuous learning and professional development while strengthening data analysis, data management, and technology capabilities across the team and the University.
• Manage multiple strategic priorities and projects, ensuring effective planning, timely execution, and alignment with institutional objectives.

Requirements

You should have:

• A Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, ERP/ MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an organization, with exposure to data management, analytics, or a related field, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
• Advanced expertise in data analytics, data quality management, and data security practices.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong knowledge of data analysis methods, statistical techniques, database querying (SQL) and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SAS/ SPSS.
• Working proficiency in relevant web technologies, such as Microsoft Azure & Power Platform (Automate, Apps etc.), PHP and JSON, will be an added advantage.
