Job summary

The Aga Khan University Hospital seeks a Specialist, Service Delivery (Database) to lead database administration for enterprise applications. You will design, implement, monitor performance, ensure security, backup/recovery, and drive data integrity across platforms.

The role requires strong SQL and Oracle skills, experience with ERP PeopleSoft, and proficiency in Linux and Windows servers. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in database administration and architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL and Oracle; performance tuning and security.
• Advanced knowledge of backup/recovery, encryption and monitoring standards.
• Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling; PeopleSoft ERP knowledge.
• Experience with Linux and Windows servers, clustering and high availability.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and ability to work independently.
• DB certification preferred.

Job Role / Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager,Information Technology, the database administrator position requires a personpossessing relevant academic qualifications and experience in the field ofcomputer software support, database administration & management. The DatabaseSpecialist is expected to setup & manage databases and enterpriseapplications to the required performance monitoring / optimization, troubleshooting, backup /recovery, security management etc. You are required to leaddatabase projects whenever required and ensure timely delivery. Goodinterpersonal skills and adequate oral and written communication skills areessential.

Specifically, you willbe responsible to;

• database administration ofenterprise applications - effectively manage the performance and troubleshootany issue that may arise in the existing database systems and enterpriseapplications
• design & implementing newinnovations
• ensure database security andcompliance

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements

• Bachelor’sDegree in Computer Science/Engineering
• minimum5 years relevant experience in the field of Database administration, Systemsand database architecture designing
• stronghands-on experience of MS SQL & Oracle; performing version upgrades,performance monitoring, security management & tuning
• advancedKnowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoringstandards
• understandingof relational and dimensional data modelling
• knowledgeof ERP PeopleSoft architecture and implementation
• possessstrong hands-on experience on Linux and Microsoft windows servers (Windows2012, 2016 & 2019, including knowledge of windows failover clusters andhigh availability
• extensiveexperience with query tuning and troubleshooting
• workingknowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and managementtools
• technical,managerial, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills required
• advancedatabase certification will be preferred
• abilityto communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both writtenand verbal
• abilityto work well with others, as well as independently
• strongorganizational skills and ability to multi-task in a business environment
