Job summary

Steps Ahead (SAPL) in Karachi factory is seeking an experienced IT Engineer to manage Windows and Linux servers within a Sangfor HCI environment. You will oversee end-to-end server administration, security, maintenance, backups, and performance across virtual machines.

The role requires 2–4 years in Windows/Linux server administration, strong knowledge of virtualization, patching, monitoring, and the ability to coordinate with internal IT teams and vendors. A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 2 to 4 years of experience required.
• Experience in Windows and Linux server administration.
• Hands-on experience managing virtual servers/VMs in an HCI environment, preferably Sangfor HCI.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience in server security, hardening, patch management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, configuration, and administration of Windows and Linux servers/VMs in Sangfor HCI.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of virtual machines (VMs) including provisioning and decommissioning.
• Configure OS and server roles according to business requirements.
• Implement and maintain server security, hardening, access controls, and best practices.
• Manage OS patching, updates, upgrades, and security fixes.
• Monitor server/VM performance, availability, capacity, and resource usage.
• Troubleshoot server, OS, VM, and application issues.

Job Description – IT Engineer

Position: IT Engineer
Location:Karachi -Factory

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced IT Engineer to manage and administer Windows and Linux servers hosted on a Sangfor HCI environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end administration, maintenance, security, and performance of virtual servers/VMs and the underlying IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, configuration, and administration of Windows and Linux servers/VMs hosted on the Sangfor HCI environment.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of virtual machines (VMs), including provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Configure and manage operating systems and server roles according to business requirements.
• Implement and maintain server security, hardening, access controls, and security best practices.
• Manage OS patching, updates, upgrades, and security fixes.
• Monitor server/VM performance, availability, capacity, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, OS, VM, and application-related issues.
• Manage and monitor server backups, restore processes, and backup-related activities.
• Perform routine server maintenance, health checks, and general administration.
• Maintain proper documentation of server configurations, changes, incidents, and IT infrastructure.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams and vendors for infrastructure-related issues and technical support.
• Ensure server availability, reliability, and compliance with organizational IT policies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Having atleast 2 to 4 years of experience.
• Relevant experience in Windows and Linux server administration.
• Hands-on experience managing virtual servers/VMs in an HCI environment, preferably Sangfor HCI.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience in server security, hardening, patch management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of virtualization and server infrastructure.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred / Added Advantage

• Knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
• Experience with network and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Relevant IT certifications such as Microsoft, Linux, CCNA, or virtualization/HCI certifications would be an advantage.
