Role Overview:
As an Import/Export Officer, you will be responsible for managing the flow of goods and overseeing the shipping logistics both inbound and outbound. You will work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies to ensure compliance with all regulations and efficient movement of merchandise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all import/export operations and ensure they follow all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Prepare all necessary documentation for import/export activities, including invoices, bills of lading, shipping instructions, and certificates of origin.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and customs authorities to facilitate smooth and timely transportation of goods.
- Monitor shipments and communicate with internal teams and external parties to provide updates and ensure deadlines are met.
- Handle any discrepancies or issues that arise during the import/export process.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of international trade laws and tariffs to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
- Work collaboratively within departments to coordinate logistics activities and ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
- Assist in negotiating contracts and pricing with transport and logistics providers.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of import/export regulations and international trade compliance.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate under tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation.
- Ability to solve problems efficiently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in international business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in an import/export role or in international logistics.
- Proven project management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, logistics software).
- Fluency in English; other language skills could be beneficial.
