Job summary

JazzWorld in Islamabad invites a PS Core Planning Expert to translate network growth and business needs into effective Packet Core planning, design, expansion, and integration of Telco Cloud infrastructure, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

You will maintain knowledge of 2G–5G architectures, work with Huawei Cloud PS Core nodes, NFVI/NFVO, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and KPI dashboards; lead planning projects and ensure timely, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, or Software Engineering.
• 4–10 years of Packet Core domain experience across 2G/3G/4G/5G-NSA/5G-SA.
• Hands-on Packet Core configuration and testing experience including IMS and DPI.
• Strong knowledge of Telco Cloud, NFVI/NFVO, Kubernetes, CI/CD, VNFs/CNFs.
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a sound understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G NSA, and 5G SA network architectures and call flows.
• Plan, design, and support Packet Core solutions involving nodes such as SGSN, GGSN, MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, SMF, UPF, CGNAT, PCRF, PCF, DNS, CG, BG and NMS platforms.
• Work with Huawei Packet Core technologies and nodes including CloudUSN, CloudCGW, UNC-AMF, UNC-SMF, UDG, CloudUPCC, UPCF, ePDG, CloudDNS, CloudUDN, EPSN, MAE-Access.
• Engage vendors for end-to-end delivery of Cloud PS Core Projects ensuring timely execution and adherence to objectives.
• Plan and manage PS Core expansion and upgrade projects with vendor coordination.
• Support network optimization activities including DPI and KPI dashboards.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely execution of planning activities.

What is PS Core Planning Expert?

The role reports directly to the Manager PS Core Planning & Operations, with an extended team of 12 team members.

The position is responsible for supporting the planning, design, capacity management, integration, and evolution of Packet Core networks while ensuring alignment with business requirements and technology roadmap.

Main Tasks include planning of Packet Core domains, Configuration Management, KPI Management, Integration Management, Testing & Troubleshooting at the planning stage, Vendor Management, Internal & External Stakeholder Management, Corporate & Commercial PS Core-related business requirements management, and ongoing PS Core Projects & upgrades management.

What does PS Core Planning Expert do?

PS Core Planning Expert is responsible for translating network growth, business and technology requirements into effective Packet Core planning solutions, including planning, design, expansion, integration, optimization, and evolution of Packet Core networks and associated Telco Cloud infrastructure, while coordinating implementation with relevant internal and external stakeholders. PS Planning Expert handles below day to day tasks:

• Maintain a sound understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G NSA, and 5G SA network architecture, technologies, and call flows.
• Understand and work with Telco Cloud technologies including NFVI, NFVO, SDN, LCM, MANO, Kubernetes, containerization technologies, CI/CD pipelines, VNFs, and CNFs.
• Plan, design, and support Packet Core solutions involving nodes such as SGSN, GGSN, MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, SMF, UPF, CGNAT, PCRF, PCF, DNS, CG, BG and NMS platforms.
• Work with Huawei Packet Core technologies and nodes including CloudUSN, CloudCGW, CloudDGW, UNC-AMF, UNC-SMF, UDG, CloudUPCC, UPCF, ePDG, CloudDNS, CloudUDN, EPSN, MAE-Access.
• Understanding requirements from cross-functional teams (within technology & commercial domain stakeholders), preparing scripts, issuing WOs, guiding implementation with the Operations team, conducting testing and troubleshooting, and monitoring relevant KPIs.
• Maintain a sound understanding of Packet Core interfaces and protocols such as S1-MME, S1-U, S5/8, S10, S11, S6a, SGs, Sv, SGi, Gi, Ga, Gb, Gn/Gp, Gx, Gy, Gr and 5G-SA interfaces & SBI Architecture including Radius, Diameter.
• Plan and support Packet Core configurations for 2G,4G,5G PS interface integrations, IMS integrations, APN design, Configuration and Testing, traffic-shifting activities, KPI dashboard preparation, DPI configurations and Verifications.
• Apply IP networking fundamentals in Packet Core planning, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, routing, VLANs, subnets, and IP addressing.
• Engage and coordinate with vendors for the end-to-end delivery of Cloud PS Core Projects, ensuring timely execution and adherence to defined technical and business objectives as per project timelines.
• Plan and manage PS Core network expansion and upgrade projects, including vendor coordination to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant delivery.
• Support network optimization activities, including Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network parameter standardization.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely execution of planning activities, project milestones, integrations, network upgrades, and associated deliverables.

• Excellent understanding of 2G,4G,5G-NSA, 5G SA Architecture, technologies, interfaces, protocols, Call flows, Telco Cloud technology, NFVI, NFVO, SDN, LCM, MANO, Kubernetes, containerization technologies, CI/CD pipelines, VNFs, and CNFs.
• Hands on experience for Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and proven track record of Network optimization.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capability to handle complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across departments.
• Leadership skills to effectively represent and promote PS Core planning requirements and coordinate technical activities with internal teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while ensuring timely delivery of assigned planning and technical activities.
