Job summary

JazzWorld in Islamabad seeks Expert PS Core Operations to manage day-to-day Packet Core Network across 2G/3G/4G/5G NSA/SA.

You will monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure QoS with high uptime and robust change management.

Reporting to PS Core Planning & Operations Manager, you will lead a team of 12, drive capacity planning, runbooks, and incident reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, or Software Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in Packet Core Domain in 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G-NSA/SA technologies.
• Expertise in network operations and Huawei Cloud EPC node configuration.
• Deep understanding of 2G/4G/5G architectures, NFVI and OpenStack.
• Hands-on experience with Wireshark, Smartcare and U2020 (MAE).
• Experience in EPC Core fault, performance and configuration management.
• Strong vendor management and NFVI/VNFM/NFVO/VIM operations knowledge.
• VoLTE, VoWIFI and roaming knowledge.
• Excellent communication and leadership; stakeholder management.
• Good team player.

• Monitor network performance, usage, and health to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, escalating to vendors when necessary.
• Implement routine maintenance with minimal service disruption.
• Manage high-priority incidents and coordinate team efforts to restore services.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement prevention measures.
• Ensure logging, tracking, and closure of incident tickets per best practices.
• Collaborate with planning and engineering on capacity management and network enhancements.
• Document network configurations, changes, and incident management processes.
• Generate regular performance and incident reports for decision-making.

What is Expert PS Core Operations?

The role reports directly to the Manager PS Core Planning & Operations with an extended team of 12 team members.

Major tasks include day-to-day operations of NFVI, Cloud and EPC Networks, ensuring high-quality and reliable network performance, node management along with 5G NSA monitoring. Oversee Packet Core Network maintenance and performance to ensure maximum uptime, optimal quality, seamless user experience and troubleshooting issues promptly, while ensuring QoS assurance and effective data complaint management. Collaborate with internal teams (CS/IMS Core, VAS & HLR, IP Core, IN/Billing, Radio Planning & Optimization, and Commercial) and external customers for effective issue resolution. Engage with vendor support teams for resolving network-related issues and maintain close coordination with EPC Planning to facilitate smooth Change Management processes.

What does Expert PS Core Operations do?

• Implement strategies to optimize network traffic and increase packet core efficiency.
• Ensure QoS assurance to ensure highly optimized network.
• Handle customer complaints by tracing escalated subscriber issues.
• Collaborate with planning and engineering teams on capacity management and network enhancements.
• Ensure accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident management processes.
• Generate regular performance and incident reports, providing insights for decision-making.
• Maintain and update operational runbooks and SOPs.
• Adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks to network security.
• Ensure compliance with network policies, coordinating with the security team on data protection measures.
• Work closely with network engineering, IT, and other cross-functional teams to support network projects and upgrades.
• Coordinate with vendors for system support, upgrades, and issue resolution.
• Ensure the stability and performance of network services, including 2G, 4G, 5G, VoLTE and VoWiFi.
• Identify and Implement new network features and services as per organizational needs.
• Plan task configuration/scripting preparation and verification.
• Nodes capacities and licenses monitoring
• Quarterly Network Audits (hardware, software & Configurations)
• Service flows/documentation of each service & Internal processes definition and improvement
• Monitor Network KPI’s based and reporting.

• Deep Understanding of 2G/4G/5G(NSA/SA) Network Architecture, Interfaces, Protocols & Flows with excellent knowledge of Open stack, NFVI.
• Detailed Understanding of PS Core Nodes (AMF, SMF, UPF, SGSN, GGSN, MME, CGW, DGW, CGNAT, DNS, PCRF, PCF, CG, BG, ePDG) including Firewall, CE switches, Routers, USC, DEA & DRA.
• Detailed understanding of NFVI Core networks, Cloud infrastructure, Cloud Data Center design
• Hands-on experience on tools like Wireshark, Smartcare & U2020 (MAE).
• Experience in EPC Core fault management, performance management and configuration management.
• Basic Understanding of IPv4 & IPv6 Communication.
• Should have sound knowledge in Service Awareness and Deep Packet Inspection.
• Proven track record in network optimization.
• Should have good experience in vendor management, NFVI, VNFM, NFVO, VIM operations.
• Experience in Core Network Optimization and Network parameter standardization.
• Sound knowledge of VoLTE & VoWIFI and Roaming scenarios.
• Relevant experience of customer complaints handling.
• Excellent communication & leadership skills.
• Good team player with strong stakeholder management skills.
