Job summary

RLK in Lahore is seeking a CSSD Technician to support daily CSSD operations and ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and supplies.

You will receive used instruments, perform cleaning, decontamination, inspect and pack sets, operate autoclaves, monitor cycles, and maintain records while following infection control standards and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Matriculation or intermediate with CSSD related qualification.
• Certificate/diploma in CSSD, Sterilization Technology, Dental Assisting, or related field.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in a dental hospital or CSSD; fresh candidates may be considered.

Responsibilities

• CSSD Operations: assist in day-to-day CSSD operations and ensure sterile instruments are available on time.
• Instrument Receiving: receive used instruments, verify quantities and segregate items per procedure.
• Cleaning & Decontamination: perform cleaning, decontamination and pre-sterilization processing.
• Instrument Inspection: inspect instruments for cleanliness and defects; report issues.
• Instrument Packing: assemble, wrap, pouch, label and prepare sets for sterilization.
• Sterilization: operate autoclaves and other equipment per SOPs and safety rules.
• Sterilization Monitoring: monitor cycles using indicators and maintain records.
• Waste Handling: manage contaminated waste following infection control procedures.

Job description

• Minimum Matriculation; preferably Intermediate or a relevant healthcare/CSSD qualification.
• Certificate/Diploma in CSSD, Sterilization Technology, Dental Assisting, or a related field will be preferred.

Experience

• 1-2 years of relevant experience in a dental hospital, hospital CSSD, dental clinic, or healthcare facility preferred.
• Fresh candidates with relevant training may also be considered.

Job Description

• CSSD Operations: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Dental CSSD and ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and supplies.
• Instrument Receiving: Receive used dental instruments from clinical areas, verify quantities and segregate items according to established procedures.
• Cleaning & Decontamination: Perform cleaning, decontamination and pre-sterilization processing of dental instruments using approved methods and equipment.
• Instrument Inspection: Inspect instruments after cleaning for cleanliness, functionality, damage, corrosion or other defects and report issues to the CSSD In-Charge.
• Instrument Packing: Properly assemble, wrap, pouch, label and prepare dental instruments and sets for sterilization in accordance with approved procedures.
• Sterilization: Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, strictly according to approved operating procedures and safety requirements.
• Sterilization Monitoring: Assist in monitoring sterilization cycles through physical, chemical and applicable biological indicators and maintain relevant records.
• Sterile Storage: Store sterilized instruments and supplies appropriately and maintain proper segregation between sterile and non-sterile items.
• Distribution & Supply: Issue sterile instruments and supplies to dental clinics and other authorized areas against established requirements and maintain proper accountability.
• Dental Instrument Sets: Prepare and maintain procedure-specific dental instrument sets according to the requirements of respective clinical departments.
• Infection Prevention & Control: Follow institutional infection prevention, hand hygiene, PPE and sterilization protocols to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
• Equipment & Safety: Operate CSSD equipment safely, conduct routine checks and immediately report malfunction, damage or safety concerns.
• Inventory Support: Assist in monitoring stock levels of sterilization materials, packaging supplies and other CSSD consumables and report shortages in a timely manner.
• Records & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument processing, chemical indicators, equipment checks, distribution and other required CSSD activities.
• Waste Handling: Handle and segregate contaminated materials and waste in accordance with approved infection control and healthcare waste management procedures.
• Coordination & Support: Coordinate with dental clinics, dental assistants, nursing/clinical staff and administration to ensure uninterrupted availability of sterile instruments and supplies.
• Quality & Compliance: Follow approved SOPs, infection control standards, departmental protocols and applicable institutional requirements relating to CSSD operations.
• Other Responsibilities: Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the CSSD In-Charge or competent authority in support of safe and efficient dental clinical operations.
