Job summary

Ziauddin University in Karachi invites applications for an academic appointment in Education or a related discipline. The role focuses on teaching, research, and scholarly activity within the university.

The candidate will manage taught programmes, oversee timetabling and assessments, and contribute to accreditation processes while advancing research and publications. You will supervise undergraduate and M.Phil. projects and provide student guidance as part of a proactive academic team.

Qualifications

• PhD in Education or a relevant discipline from an HEC-recognized university.
• Candidates with an M.Phil./MS may be considered where permitted by the applicable HEC/university criteria.
• Relevant professional teaching qualifications or certifications will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage taught programmes, including oversight of day to day operational processes e.g. timetabling, assessment, examination systems and programme accreditation processes.
• Undertake and contribute to research, conducting individual research or collaborating with others.
• Conduct individual or collaborative scholarly projects, write publications of an internationally recognised standard or disseminate research findings using media appropriate to the discipline.
• Oversee the monitoring of student progress and provide advice and guidance to personal tutors and students as appropriate, including oversight of the needs of students with special requirements and processes pertaining to mitigating circumstances
• Involve in quality teaching of courses that has been assigned time to time by the department
• Carry out the role of an academic lead, i.e. sustaining a shared sense of direction for the discipline and a shared participation in the University’s success through engagement with University strategies.
• Performing such administrative duties throughout the Faculty and university as are recognised by the University as within the remit of academic staff e.g.class advisor, examination invigilator, proctor, head proctor etc
• Ensure that operational processes such as timetabling, assessment and examinations are managed
• To supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects, competitions and seminars within and outside university as assigned by university authorities
• Collaborate with Deans, HODs and Faculty to facilitate day to day affairs and improve services to students.
• Working with Dean and HOD, lead the development and implementation of the student learning experience strategy.
• Be involved in departmental / Faculty level strategic planning and contribute to the University’s strategic planning process.
• Lead and develop internal networks, for example by chairing and participating in University committees or working groups.
• Experience of working in Academic setting , have knowledge about academics
• Knowledge of Online Portals and proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point.
