Job summary

Zong 5G is seeking an experienced Core Network Engineer to operate and maintain nationwide core network entities with emphasis on configurations and end-to-end services. The role involves ensuring high availability, performing configuration scripts, health checks, and proactive troubleshooting across MSCs, HSS, IMS, MGWs, and related nodes.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues within defined timelines and uphold service quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering or relevant field.
• 5-6 years of core network operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of MSC/MGW, HSS, IMS, STP/DRA and EIR.

Responsibilities

• Maintain core network availability to 99.999%.
• Prepare and execute configuration scripts and verifications.
• Perform health checks for all core network services and nodes.
• Troubleshoot core network issues across MSC/MGW/HSS/IMS.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for issue resolution.
• Monitor KPIs and perform RCA and improvements.
• Maintain spare inventory records and asset tagging.
• On-site and on-call support when required.

Job description

Job Purpose:

To perform the operation and maintenance of nationwide core network entities especially from configurations perspective with end-to-end services and nodes responsibly. In depth core network configurations / troubleshooting requirement for all MSCs, IMS, MGWs, HSS, LSMS, STPs, DRAs, Cloudified Nodes, Services over IP.

Job Responsibilities:

• To ensure Core network availability at 99.999%.
• Taking preventive & corrective measures to maintain availability and services including configurations scripts preparation, verification and execution after abidance to all abidance processes.
• To perform all assigned system and services routines and health checks for maintaining systems performance and availability.
• Perform highly skilled database related tasks and definitions which may include software and hardware configurations, routing plans and signaling data etc.
• To ensure Customer Complaints are really resolved with in TAT and ensuring that all network services are fault-free.
• Preparation and implementation of emergency plans. Coordination with vendors for resolution of issues and other requirements.
• Monitoring of all assigned core network KPIs and drill down analysis independently wherever applicable.
• Troubleshooting and analysis of reported issues and take necessary improvement measures by coordinating with other departments, teams and stake holders.
• To keep updated record of Core network spares inventory, asset tagging and related stuff.
• To perform special network monitoring and troubleshooting tasks as and when assigned.
• To perform on site and on call activities as and when required.

Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):

Education:

• In principle to have minimum Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics/Electrical/Telecom/Computer) or other relevant degree.

Work Experience:

• Should have preferably 5-6 years of relevant experience in Core Networks for operations, deployment and optimizations.

Skills – Generic:

• To independently perform with little supervision, work with responsibility, meeting deadlines, good interpersonal skills, good team player, ability to effectively contribute and part of the team.

Skills – Job Specific:

• Expert knowledge and experience for core systems used in mobile telephony including MSC/MGW, STP/DRA, HSS, IMS and EIR etc.
• Expertise in all signaling protocols, standards and associated flows.
• Proficiency in signaling and routing mechanisms at all network levels.
• Expert knowledge and practical experience in hardware and software of core network platforms.
• Understands the standard processes and procedures of core network activities execution.
