Job summary

Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi seeks an experienced Enterprise Network Engineer to install, configure, upgrade, and monitor multi-site LAN/WAN, MPLS, and internet-facing networks across the organization.

You will design high-availability architectures, manage switches/routers, firewalls, and security policies, and work with monitoring tools like SolarWinds and PRTG to ensure optimal performance and rapid fault resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network administration, supporting LAN, WAN, MPLS, and internet-facing networks in large-scale environments.
• Strong expertise in network performance optimization, routing and switching, firewall security, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience managing core/distribution layer switches and multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Huawei).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools SolarWinds and PRTG for proactive fault detection.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and monitor enterprise network devices for high availability.
• Design and manage Layer-2/3 networks including VLANs, ACLs, STP/RSTP, QoS, and routing protocols.
• Manage traffic across access, distribution, and core layers for low latency and fault tolerance.
• Troubleshoot routing loops, broadcast storms, and performance bottlenecks.
• Configure and manage firewalls (Cisco ASA, FortiGate) and security rules for internal/DMZ networks.
• Design and maintain DMZ architecture for public-facing services.
• Administer MPLS circuits and optimize network performance across sites.
• Deploy and manage enterprise wireless solutions and firmware lifecycle.
• Use SolarWinds and PRTG for monitoring and incident resolution.

Job description

• Install, configure, upgrade, and monitor enterprise network devices toensure high availability and performance.
• Design, implement, and manage Layer-2 and Layer-3 networks, includingVLANs, ACLs, STP/RSTP, QoS, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
• Manage traffic flow across access, distribution, and core layers for lowlatency and fault tolerance.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues such as routing loops, broadcaststorms, and performance bottlenecks.
• Configure and manage firewalls (Cisco ASA, FortiGate, Sophos), NAT,access controls, and security rules for internal, DMZ, andinternet-facing networks.
• Design, implement, and maintain DMZ architecture to host securepublic-facing services.
• Administer MPLS circuits and support any deployments related to networkservices to optimize performance and redundancy across sites.
• Deploy, configure, and manage enterprise wireless solutions (Aruba,Cisco, Cambium, Huawei, etc.) and firmware lifecycle management.
• Implement and manage NMS platforms, including SolarWinds and PRTG, tomonitor network health, conduct root cause analysis, and lead incidentresolution
• Plan and manage primary and disaster recovery sites, includingbackup/failover strategies and specialized networks (CCTV, criticalinfrastructure).
• Manage end-to-end network projects and maintaining accuratedocumentation and network topology diagrams.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, ComputerScience, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networkadministration, supporting LAN, WAN, MPLS, and internet-facing networksin large-scale or mission-critical environments.
• Strong expertise in network performance optimization, routing andswitching, firewall security, and the design of high-availability,resilient network architectures.
• Demonstrated experience managing core and distribution layer switches,as well as multi-vendor network environments, including Cisco andHuawei.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management tools such asSolarWinds and PRTG for proactive fault detection and performanceanalysis.
• Demonstrated skills in incident management, root cause analysis, andemergency response for critical network outages.
• CCNA and CCNP certifications required; additional security or wirelesscertifications are a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong analytical andtroubleshooting skills, and thorough documentation capabilities.
