Qualifications

• Culinary qualification, diploma or relevant vocational training in cooking is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Western cooking techniques and cuisines.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Physical fitness and stamina to stand for extended periods.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant or catering kitchen is advantageous.
• Valid food handler certification or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Western dishes following established recipes and kitchen standards
• Assist senior chefs with food preparation, including chopping, mixing and marinating ingredients
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your assigned station and kitchen equipment
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure consistent quality and food safety standards
• Support with plating and garnishing dishes to meet presentation requirements
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service during busy periods
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and sanitation protocols strictly
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation at your station
• Support senior chefs with special dietary requirements and customised orders
• Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen culture
