Job Description
- Customer Service: Greet customers as they arrive, escort them to their tables, and offer menus. Provide assistance with menu selections and answer any questions about ingredients or dishes.
- Taking Orders: Accurately take food and drink orders from customers, entering them into the point-of-sale (POS) system or delivering them to the kitchen.
- Serving Food and Drinks: Deliver food and beverages to the correct table, ensuring accuracy in the order. Refill drinks and check on customers’ satisfaction during the meal.
- Handling Payments: Present the bill to customers, process payments (cash, credit card, etc.), and provide change or receipts as needed.
- Cleaning and Setting Tables: Clean and set tables before and after guests dine, ensuring a neat and tidy dining area.
- Coordinating with Kitchen and Bar Staff: Communicate customer requests to the kitchen or bar staff and ensure timely delivery of orders. Handle special requests or dietary needs.
- Managing Multiple Tables: Serve multiple tables efficiently while keeping track of customer needs, including refills, additional orders, or special requests.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure the dining area is clean and organized, including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and restocking supplies.
- Upselling: Recommend daily specials, upsell menu items, or suggest additional items like appetizers or desserts to enhance the dining experience and increase sales.
- Minimum Education: Usually, a high school diploma or equivalent is required. For some positions, formal education is not necessary, though it can be a plus.
- Previous Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or food service role (such as working as a barista, host, or busser) is often preferred but not required, especially for entry-level positions. On-the-job training is typically provided.
