The Vice President – Commercial Operations will be responsible for designing, implementing and continuously strengthening the commercial processes that support the Company’s business development activities. Working closely with the Head of Sales and the CEO, the incumbent will ensure that strategic opportunities are pursued systematically, proposals are professionally managed, customer commitments are executed effectively, and commercial decisions are supported by robust management information systems.
The role is intended to institutionalize best practices, improve cross functional coordination and build a scalable commercial organization centred on customer success.
Partner with the Head of Sales and Management to evaluate, prioritize and pursue strategic opportunities. Coordinate internal stakeholders to develop capture strategies, manage demonstrations, field trials, technology partnerships and customer engagements that enhance client’s competitive advantage. Establish structured opportunity reviews and governance processes to improve win probability.
Serve as the custodian of all proposals submitted by the Company. Establish standardized processes for responding to EOIs, RFIs, RFPs and RFQs by coordinating technical, commercial, financial and legal inputs into a consistent, professionally presented submission. Develop proposal templates, review mechanisms and approval workflows that improve quality, responsiveness and risk management.
Develop and own the Company’s CRM and commercial MIS framework. Institutionalize disciplined opportunity tracking, sales forecasting, customer engagement records, key account plans and executive dashboards. Ensure commercial decisions are supported by accurate, timely and meaningful management information.
Lead the commercial transition from order receipt through execution by coordinating effective handover to Operations while remaining the principal custodian of customer expectations. Monitor contractual commitments, facilitate cross-functional coordination, manage escalations and ensure proactive communication that strengthens customer confidence throughout the programme lifecycle.
Build the commercial operating framework required to support client’s long-term growth. Develop standard operating procedures, governance mechanisms, performance metrics and review processes that improve accountability, consistency and organizational learning while preserving the agility expected of a growing enterprise.
A minimum of 18 years’ experience in Business Operations, Commercial Operations, Proposal Management, Program Management, Customer Success or similar leadership roles within engineering, capital equipment, industrial automation, aerospace or defence organizations.
Experience in building structured commercial processes within a growing business will be highly regarded.
Strong understanding of strategic opportunity management, proposal development, commercial negotiations, contract governance and customer relationship management. Demonstrated experience implementing CRM platforms, management dashboards and process-driven operating frameworks.
An individual with unquestionable integrity, sound judgement and exceptional dependability who is trusted to manage critical customer engagements and confidential commercial matters. The successful candidate should possess outstanding organizational skills, communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and influence diverse stakeholders through credibility rather than hierarchy.
