Job summary

MedSpecialized, Inc. is seeking a Virtual Medical Assistant specialized in medication prior authorizations to support our US healthcare clients.

Ideal candidates are pharmacists or pharmacy technicians with experience in PA, insurance, and pharmacy claims, and who can work night shifts from the Philippines.

This remote role offers Cebu IT Park onsite option, competitive benefits, and training to ensure accurate documentation and effective communication with providers.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy graduate, Pharmacist, or Pharmacy Technician with relevant experience.
• Pharmacy experience required.
• BPO healthcare experience preferred, especially PA handling.
• Experience with PA, insurance, pharmacy claims, or prescription processes is advantageous.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate and comfortable with healthcare systems.
• Ability to work night shifts and weekends/holidays when required.
• Willing to work onsite in Cebu IT Park or remotely depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Process and assist with medication prior authorization (PA) requests.
• Review medication and patient information required for PA.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers, pharmacies, and insurers regarding PA requirements.
• Follow up on pending PA requests and monitor status.
• Assist with medication-related inquiries and administrative tasks.
• Review and ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation.
• Document PA activities and updates in systems.
• Maintain confidential patient and medication records.
• Communicate effectively with US-based healthcare teams and clients.
• Perform other pharmacy-related administrative tasks.

Job Overview

We are looking for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to provide support with medication prior authorizations and pharmacy-related administrative tasks.

This is a great opportunity for pharmacy professionals who want to apply their pharmacy knowledge in a US healthcare setting. Candidates with BPO Healthcare experience, particularly experience handling prior authorizations, are highly preferred.

Work Schedule and Arrangement

Night shift

• Remote Work – For applicants residing in the Philippines outside Cebu
• Onsite Work – Applicants residing within Cebu are required to work onsite
• Office Location: 8th Floor, Skyrise 4B Building, IT Park, Lahug, Cebu City, Cebu

Responsibilities

• Process and assist with medication prior authorization (PA) requests.
• Review medication and patient information required for prior authorization.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies regarding PA requirements.
• Follow up on pending prior authorization requests and monitor their status.
• Assist with medication-related inquiries and administrative tasks.
• Review and ensure the completeness and accuracy of documentation.
• Document prior authorization activities, communications, and updates accurately in the appropriate systems.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient and medication records.
• Communicate effectively with US-based healthcare teams and clients.
• Perform other pharmacy-related administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Pharmacy graduate, Pharmacist, or Pharmacy Technician with relevant pharmacy experience
• Pharmacy experience is required
• BPO Healthcare experience is highly preferred, especially experience handling Medication Prior Authorizations
• Experience with medication prior authorizations, insurance, pharmacy claims, eligibility, or prescription-related processes is an advantage
• Excellent English proficiency with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate and comfortable using healthcare systems and online platforms
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential patient information
• Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
• Willing to work on a night shift
• Willing to work during weekends and holidays when required
• For Cebu-based applicants: Willing to work onsite in Cebu IT Park
• For applicants outside Cebu: Must have a stable internet connection and a conducive home workspace

Salary and Monetary Benefits

• Monthly salary: PHP 20,000 – 30,000
• New Hire Bonus: PHP 5,000
• Attendance Bonus: PHP 2,000

Salary offers may vary depending on relevant pharmacy experience, BPO healthcare experience, prior authorization experience, and overall qualifications.
