Job Purpose
The role is responsible for managing transportation operations to ensure the safe, efficient and timely delivery of products. It oversees fleet utilization, delivery performance, transportation compliance, vendor coordination and team operations while ensuring continuous operational improvement. The role monitors on-time and complete deliveries, reviews trip utilization and implements strategies to utilize usage of vehicles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with established Logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and dispatch procedures while driving process improvement.
- Verify delivery schedules, documents and customer requirements prior to dispatch.
- Monitor daily transportation activities and provide operational support to drivers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain accurate transportation records, including vehicle logs, fuel consumption, insurance, permits, registrations and maintenance records.
- Collect and verify signed Proof of Delivery (POD) documents and endorse them to the Delivery Cycle Team.
- Document transportation issues, analyse root causes and recommend corrective actions to improve delivery performance.
- Ensure that drivers perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain vehicle safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance schedules, repair activities and accident investigations.
- Verify the validity of drivers’ licenses, permits and required certifications.
- Promote safety awareness and ensure transport personnel comply with company safety policies and transportation regulations.
- Monitor and control vehicle operating expenses, including fuel, repairs, maintenance, toll, permits and registrations.
- Monitor transportation budgets and cost performance per trip.
- Review quarterly transport cost, delivery productivity and fleet utilization data to identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve transportation issues and support operational requirements.
- Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and provide feedback to improve service quality.
- Coordinate with Sales Order Management (SOM), Inventory Management (IM) and other departments to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Coordinate urgent deliveries and VIP shipments with internal stakeholders.
- Manage third-party transport providers and monitor compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Lead regular alignment meetings with the delivery team to communicate operational updates, company announcements and improvement initiatives.
- Set the team's work schedules and task assignments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Office Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, fleet management, distribution or supply chain operations.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in transportation, logistics or distribution operations.
- Experience in fleet management, dispatch planning and transportation operations.
- Must possess a valid Professional Driver’s License with the appropriate restriction codes (B, B1, B2, C and D).
- Deep familiarity with NCR and surrounding provincial areas, including optimal alternative routes to bypass heavy traffic and bottlenecks.
- Knowledge of fleet preventive maintenance, vehicle inspections, transportation regulations and fleet safety standards.
- Willing to work on-site and render overtime when required.
