Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline Philippines invites applications for an Area Medical Advisor specializing in Hepatology to drive scientific excellence and strategic medical input for the region.

You will build credibility with HCPs and KEEs, plan CME activities, and deliver on-label medical communications. Fluency in English and the local language is essential, with 1–2 years in pharma preferred.

Qualifications

  • MBBS with postgraduate qualification required.
  • Post graduate qualification in Pharmacology or Public Health preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral English and local language communication.
  • 1–2 years in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Gastroenterology/Hepatology.
  • Understanding of ICH-GCP and internal SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain credible networking with Health Care Practitioners (HCPs).
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct CMEs, symposia, trainings, workshops and scientific meetings.
  • Deliver scientific presentations with on-label messages at medical education meetings.
  • Provide medical inputs into brand strategy and regional medical plans.
  • Support Pharmacovigilance and safety communications in Hepatology.

Job Purpose
  • Provide scientific and technical expertise of the highest standards for local medical information, including interactions with Key External Experts (KEEs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
  • Provide medical and scientific input and information for business strategy for the region.
Key Responsibility
  • primary deliverables of role; its scope; budgetary control (operating/capital), impact on strategy, policy, business or people relationships
  • Develop and sustain credible networking with appropriate Health Care Practitioners (HCPs)
  • Plan, facilitate and conduct CMEs, symposia, trainings, workshops, scientific meetings, speaker tours, and other product specific campaigns and deliver scientific presentations with consistent messages for key products at these meetings, as required.
  • Support and deliver scientific presentations with consistent "on label" messages at medical education meetings.
  • Understand principles of and support Scientific Engagement (SE) activities as per Medical Plans.
  • Have clarity in understanding on Scientific Engagements and Promotional Code.
  • Become an expert in Hepatology where GSK have brands and support associated activities related to those brands.
  • Be updated on scientific knowledge on Hepatology; GSK molecules and its PI to ensure its 'On Label' communications on various platforms.
  • Support in feasibility assessment of potential research sites, develop concept notes, proposals, budgets, data collection and monitoring tools for field studies.
  • Provide medical inputs into development and execution of brand strategy.
  • Pharmacovigilance: Support Named Safety contact in strengthening of Hepatology Pharmacovigilance; ensure self-learning.
  • Knowledge/ Education / Previous Experience Required
Educational Background
  • Minimum Level of Education - MBBS with post graduate qualification
  • Preferred Level of Education - Post graduate qualification in Pharmacology / Public Health
Job-Related Experience & Minimum Level of Experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, local language
  • Experience of presenting scientific topics at different settings
  • A sound understanding of the principles and practice of ICH-GCP and internal SOPs.
  • Well-demonstrated ability to understand scientific methods and experimental design.
  • 1-2 years in the pharmaceutical industry preferably in the Gastroenterology / Hepatology therapy area.

Qualifications
  • MBBS, MD (Postgraduate)

  • Understanding the clinical approach towards disease management and conduct peer-to-peer discussions with HCPs
  • In-depth expertise in specific specialties to provide a better clinical perspective and drive deeper engagements externally
Experience & Skills
  • Medical degree
  • Pharmaceutical industry or relevant experience is desirable
  • Relevant TA experience is desirable
  • Understanding of regulations related to promotional practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to operate as a team player
  • 1-2 years in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in the Respiratory therapy area
  • Ability to work in a highly technical and complex environment involving direct interfacing with sales, marketing, external customers, and other functions as appropriate
  • Ability to adapt to evolving regulations and GSK policies related to promotional practices and scientific engagement
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
