Role Overview
The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for providing expert guidance on complex accounting matters, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, and supporting the business in the accounting and financial reporting implications of significant transactions. The role will partner closely with Finance, Tax, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, Business Development, and other stakeholders to assess complex transactions, develop accounting positions, implement new accounting standards, and ensure consistent application of accounting policies across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting & Advisory
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex and non-routine transactions.
- Research and interpret IFRS / US GAAP / applicable local GAAP requirements.
- Prepare technical accounting position papers and accounting memos for significant transactions.
- Evaluate accounting implications of acquisitions, disposals, business combinations, investments, financing arrangements, leases, revenue contracts, and other complex transactions.
- Provide accounting advice to senior management and business stakeholders.
- Monitor emerging accounting issues and assess their potential impact on the organization.
Financial Reporting
- Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Review disclosures and supporting documentation for significant accounting areas.
- Partner with the financial reporting team on complex accounting and disclosure matters.
- Support management reporting and other external reporting requirements where appropriate.
New Accounting Standards
- Monitor changes in IFRS / US GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations.
- Assess the impact of new and amended accounting standards on the business.
- Lead implementation projects for new accounting standards.
- Develop accounting policies, guidance, processes, and training materials as required.
Transactions & Projects
- Provide accounting support for M&A, restructuring, financing, investments, joint ventures, and strategic transactions.
- Review transaction agreements from an accounting perspective and identify relevant accounting considerations.
- Work with Legal, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and external advisors to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Support due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions.
Accounting Policies & Controls
- Develop, maintain, and enhance corporate accounting policies.
- Promote consistent application of accounting policies across business units and geographies.
- Identify accounting risks and recommend appropriate controls and processes.
- Support internal and external audit activities, including responding to technical accounting queries.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and audit trails are maintained for significant accounting judgments.
Stakeholder & Audit Management
- Act as a key technical accounting contact for internal and external auditors.
- Coordinate with external accounting advisors where specialist advice is required.
- Present accounting conclusions and recommendations to senior Finance leadership.
- Build strong relationships with business and Finance stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, ACA, or equivalent.
- Typically 8-12 years of relevant accounting/financial reporting experience, including significant experience in technical accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a multinational company.
- Strong understanding of IFRS 3, IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 12, IAS 36, IAS 37 and IAS 32, as applicable.
- Experience preparing technical accounting papers and supporting audit committees or senior Finance leadership.
- Experience implementing new accounting standards.
- Exposure to finance transformation, ERP implementation, or accounting process improvement projects.
Work Schedule (Dayshift)
- Monday to Friday 9AM-6PM; Manila Time
Work Setup (Hybrid)
- Twice onsite per week (wed-thursday)
- Candidate's are expected to have a conducive (quiet, distraction-free) dedicated workspace
- Equipment will be provided by the company
- Hired staff is required to have a stable and reliable internet connection with at least 20MBPS for both download AND upload speed.
