Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Group in the Philippines seeks a skilled Technical Buyer with at least 2 years of experience to source, evaluate, and manage suppliers for components and materials. You will define precise specifications with Engineering and Planning, prepare RFQs, and drive cost-saving initiatives while managing POs and delivery schedules.

The role requires strong vendor management, cross-functional collaboration, and accurate data/reporting within purchasing systems.

Qualifications

• College graduate of any 4 year course; Engineering course is an advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience as a technical buyer.
• As technical buyer, with experience or assignment in Materials Ordering, Consignment and Vendor Management System.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing & Evaluation: identify, screen, and approve suitable technical suppliers.
• Requirements Definition: work with Engineering/Production/Planning on BOMs and standards.
• Negotiation & Contracting: prepare RFQs, analyze bids, negotiate pricing and terms.
• Procurement Execution: create/manage POs, ensure timely delivery, adjust schedules.
• Supplier Management: build relationships, monitor performance, conduct audits, resolve issues.
• Cost Management: identify cost savings, analyze market trends, reduce risks.
• Internal Liaison: act as link between suppliers and Manufacturing/Engineering/Planning.
• Data & Documentation: maintain procurement records, manage systems, generate reports.

• Negotiation & Contracting: Preparing RFQs, analyzing bids, negotiating pricing, terms, and multi-year agreements.
• Procurement Execution: Creating and managing Purchase Orders (POs), ensuring timely delivery, and adjusting schedules.
• Supplier Management: Building relationships, monitoring performance, conducting audits, and resolving quality/delivery issues.
• Cost Management: Identifying cost‑saving opportunities, analyzing market trends, and reducing procurement risks.
• Internal Liaison: Acting as the link between suppliers and other departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning).
• Data & Documentation: Maintaining accurate procurement records, managing Purchasing systems, and providing reports.
