INTERNATIONAL KAI-ZEN RESEARCH FOUNDATION seeks a Tax & BIR Compliance Assistant to manage end-to-end tax housekeeping. You will handle eBIRForms filings, OTC processes, and BIR closing for dissolved entities, ensuring accurate tax records and timely responses to audits.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, 1–2 years in tax compliance, and hands-on experience with eBIRForms/eFPS. On-site work in the Philippines with exposure to tax litigation support and advisory tasks.

The Tax & BIR Compliance Assistant is responsible for the corporation’s end-to-end tax housekeeping. This role goes far beyond simple tax filing; it is the company’s first line of defense against penalties, assessments, and tax exposure. You will manage the entire lifecycle of tax compliance—from securing authority to print receipts to litigating abatements and closing out business registrations. The ideal candidate is a tax-savvy professional who thrives on resolving complex "open cases" and has the tenacity to protest erroneous BIR assessments.
Prepare, review, and electronically file (eBIRForms) all monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, including but not limited to: VAT (2550M / 2550Q), Withholding Tax (1601-C, 1601-E, 1602, 1603), Percentage Tax; Income Tax (1702Q / 1702), and Documentary Stamp Tax (DST)
ORUS management
Manage the completeBIR Closing of Businessprocess for dissolved entities, branches, or registered activities.
Secure theTax Clearance Certificate (TCC)and BIR Form 2316 consolidations required for the closure of permits and the release of bonds.
End-to-end processing ofApplications for Authority to Print (ATP)for official receipts (ORs) and sales invoices.
Coordinate with accredited BIR printers to ensure print requests meet BIR technical specifications
Manage the inventory and retirement of unused principal and supplemental receipts/invoices.
LOA Handling:Act as the primary point of contact duringLetters of Authority (LOA)and BIR audits. Consolidate requested documents, coordinate with operational departments for data, and draft initial responses to examiners.
Protest & Abatement:Prepare the factual and legal basis forProtesting an Assessment(disputed tax deficiency). Draft Protest Letters and supporting documents for review by the senior legal counsel or head of legal.
Abatement of Taxes:Prepare applications for theAbatement or Cancellation of Tax Penalties(based on reasonable cause or medical grounds, etc.) and pursue these with the BIR National Office.
Investigate, analyze, and correctOpen Casesin the BIR's Integrated Tax System (ITS).
Perform "data fixing" requests with the BIR to reconcile discrepancies between the company’s books and the BIR’s filed returns (e.g., misaligned tax types, incorrect TIN suffixes, or payment misapplied).
Close out old legacy cases by providing supporting documents to the BIR Reconciliation and Monitoring Division.
Conduct deep-diveTax Researchon BIR Rulings, Revenue Regulations (RRs), and Revenue Memorandum Circulars (RMCs).
Provide internal advisory to the Finance and Sales teams on the tax implications of new business models, cross-border transactions (withholding on compensation vs. income payments), and VAT exemptions.
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy (BSA) or Financial Accounting ismandatory.
Experience:Minimum of1-2 yearsof direct experience in a tax compliance role.
Technical Expertise:Must have actual hands-on experience with eBIRForms, eFPS and AFS preparation and bookkeeping.
In-depth knowledge of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC), or at least willing to learn and to be trained
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables) for tax reconciliation.
Experience drafting formal correspondence to the BIR (e.g., requests for reconsideration, provisional letters).
Strong interpersonal skills to handle BIR examiners and officers diplomatically.
Ability to spot data mismatches in volumes of financial data.
Does not wait for notices; actively checks the BIR portal for open cases.
