Job summary

Airnergy and Renewables, Inc. seeks a Substation Operator to monitor and control substation equipment across the power distribution grid. You will record data, perform switching, and report with the dispatcher to ensure reliable operation.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology, with at least 2 years of Sub-Station experience, and a valid driver's license. Willingness to be assigned anywhere in the Philippines is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in monitoring and operation of Sub-Station Operation and Maintenance.
• Preferably Registered Electrical Engineer.
• Knowledgeable in operating and monitoring of substation equipment, monitoring, and protective devices.
• Knowledgeable in Fault/Alarm Interpretation is an advantage.
• With good Communication Skills.
• Can drive Manual and Automatic Vehicle Type with a valid Drivers License.
• Willing to be assigned in to any point in the Philippines.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor substation equipment and protection systems.
• Record readings from switchboards and transformers.
• Perform switching operations to control power flow.
• Communicate with Load Dispatcher for switching instructions.
• Observe switchboard indicators for line disturbances.
• Isolate and reconnect lines as needed for repairs.
• Inspect transformers, pumps, fans, batteries, and breakers for defects.
• Control remote substations from central station as assigned.
• Any other tasks assigned by Substation O&M Supervisor.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Controls equipment such as current converters, voltage transformers, and circuit breakers that regulate flow of electricity through the substation of the electric power system and over distribution lines to consumers.
• Records readings of switchboard instruments to compile data concerning quantities of electric power used for substation operation and amounts distributed from the station.
• Perform switching operation.
• Monitor all electrical equipment and protection.
• Communicates with Load Dispatcher to report amount of electricity received into substation, and to receive switching instructions.
• Observes switchboard instruments to detect indications of line disturbances, such as grounded, shorted, or open circuits.
• Pulls circuit breaker switch or pushes buttons to interrupt flow of current in disturbed line preparatory to repair, and to connect alternate circuit to carry load of de-energized lines.
• Records temperature of transformers at specified intervals.
• Inspect equipment, such as transformers, pumps, fans, batteries, and circuit breakers to detect defects.
• Operate auxiliary generators and be designated Substation Operator, Generation.
• Control several remote-controlled substations from central station switchboard and be designated Substation Operator, Automatic.
• Other tasks that the Substation O&M Supervisor may assign.
