Job summary

PM Consulting is seeking a Structural Steel Estimator to prepare accurate project estimates for structural steel fabrication and construction. You will review drawings, specs, and scope to develop competitive estimates, perform quantity take-offs, and coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to validate costing assumptions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Experience estimating structural steel fabrication or construction is preferred.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, and technical documents with attention to details.
• Proficiency with Excel and BIM/CAD software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, scope of work to determine project requirements.
• Prepare detailed estimates and cost calculations for structural steel projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs for structural steel, plates, bolts, welds, coatings, and materials.
• Calculate material, labor, equipment, fabrication, transportation, and installation costs.
• Prepare bills of materials, cost breakdowns, and pricing summaries.
• Coordinate with engineering, detailing, procurement, fabrication, and project teams.
• Review BIM models and shop drawings to support quantity take-offs and estimating.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and incorporate costs.
• Identify scope gaps, assumptions, and cost risks during estimating.
• Submit estimates and supporting docs within deadlines.
• Review revisions and changes and update estimates accordingly.
• Assist in evaluating variations and change orders as needed.
• Maintain organized records of estimates and costing data.
• Support improving estimating methods and pricing accuracy.
