Job summary

School District 27J (Inc) is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional - Generalist to support students with moderate disabilities in both general and special education classes. You will modify materials, collect data, and assist with instruction under the supervision of licensed teachers.

This 9-month, Tue-Fri schedule runs 8.5 hours per day, with benefits eligibility. Strong data collection and IEP familiarity are desirable; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret Behavior Plans and IEPs.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to effectively present information to teachers and related staff.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and pass post-offer physical.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and supervision for students with disabilities per IEP.
• Modify materials and assist with instruction delivery.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow and monitor behavior intervention plans for safety.
• Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers.
• De-escalate students using CPI measures when needed.
• Consult with general education teachers on best practices in special education.
• Assist with minor clerical duties as needed.
• Attend trainings and student staffings as required.
