Job summary

Horry County Schools seeks a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities under the supervision of the Building Principal. The paraprofessional helps with daily instruction, supervision, and the implementation of IEP goals within a 185‑day calendar.

Duties include assisting with small group instruction, data collection, transitions, and behavioral supports as part of a collaborative educational team. Tasks may involve lifting up to 40 pounds and supervising student activities.

Qualifications

• Must meet paraprofessional requirements: 60 college credit hours, an associate degree or ParaPro/Work Keys passing.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and communicate effectively.
• Ability to assist with instruction, monitor student progress and provide behavioral support within IEP goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of IEPs and small group instruction under teacher supervision.
• Attend to students' instructional, personal and behavioral needs, including supervision during transitions.
• Collect and report student performance data to teachers and maintain classroom records.
• Provide general clerical tasks as needed and assist with materials distribution and organization.
• Support safety and appropriate use of assistive technology and equipment for students.
