Job summary

Mankato Area Public Schools is seeking Special Education Intervention Paraeducators for elementary sites. The role provides intensive behavioral, emotional, and instructional support to students with IEPs, working with general and special education teachers to deliver targeted instruction.

The position includes day-to-day classroom management, progress reporting, and collaboration with teams. Flexible scheduling, multiple sites, and both full-time and part-time options are available.

Qualifications

• 60-semester credits (or two years full-time at an institute of higher education) or an AA/AS/AAS.
• Assessment required before first day of employment to become highly qualified.
• Background check and physical screening required before employment.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans.
• Use evidence-based intervention and de-escalation strategies.
• Support students during transitions throughout the school day.
• Reinforce self-regulation, coping, and replacement skills.
• Monitor behavior and maintain required documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
• Participate in specialized behavioral intervention training.
