Job summary

MJ Leonard Services Phils. Corp. is seeking a steel detailing specialist to join its civil/structural team. You will detail steel structures using Tekla Structures, review models with engineers and fabricators, and prepare drawings and RFIs as required.

The ideal candidate has a civil/structural engineering background, a license is a plus, and at least five years of detailing experience with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in civil/structural engineering is often required or preferred.
• Experience detailing steel structures and connections is highly desirable.
• Tekla Structures knowledge is mandatory; AutoCAD proficiency is valuable.

Technical Skills:

• A high level of accuracy is required to minimize error in designs and drawings.
• Present fab packs for production in Ireland to required standard.
• Work as part of the current and any future team.
• Work alone with minimal supervision.
• Check fellow employees models/drawings as required.
• Train on new software as required.
• Responsible for reviewing Detailer Requirement and making the necessary update as needed.
• Assist other Detailers on the projects with detailing and sketches.
• Work with Detailer to review work and issues and provide feedback to approved detailer list.
• Review the drawings for thoroughness, generate, document and submit RFIs.
• Skills in time management and the ability to meet deadlines are important.
• Ability to analyze technical procedures and solve complex detailing issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to collaborate with engineers, architects, and fabrication teams.

Education and Experience:

• A degree or diploma in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related technical field is often required or preferred. (Licensed is a plus factor).
• Experience in detailing a wide range of steel structures, including connection detailing is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Tekla Structures is mandatory.
• Proficiency in other CAD software, such as AutoCAD, is also valuable.
• A strong understanding of structural steel principles, drafting, and construction documentation is necessary.
• Five (5) years minimum experience.
