Teksteel Cebu team invites you to begin a detailing career focused on 2D steel drawing editing for fabrication and construction. You will learn by doing, guided by QA feedback and practical examples, working with Australian projects in English.
Progression paths include advanced 2D/GA editing, QA, or structural modelling as you demonstrate accuracy and independence. No Tekla experience is required as training will be provided.
Develop your detailing career with the Cebu team supporting English Steel Drafting’s Australian projects.
Do you naturally picture how individual parts fit together? Notice differences that others miss? Want to understand why something works, then practise until you can do it well?
We are recruiting a cadet who brings these strengths and wants to develop them into a career in structural steel detailing.
Previous steel-detailing or Tekla experience is not required. Your ability to think spatially, learn from feedback, work carefully and confidently ask questions in English matters most.
You can look at different views of an object and understand how they relate. You enjoy working out how components fit together.
You pick up differences, missing details and inconsistencies. You take the time to check rather than assume that similar items are identical.
When learning a process, you ask why it is done that way. You use the explanation to recognise and handle a similar situation next time.
You can receive specific feedback, apply it and show improvement on the next task. Repeated work is an opportunity to become more accurate and independent.
You can understand instructions, explain them back in your own words and say when something is unclear. You are willing to participate in Teams conversations with Australian colleagues. A particular accent or perfect grammar is not required; understanding and clear communication are essential.
You can organise and locate files, move between documents and software windows, and use a mouse, keyboard and common commands without continual help. When shown a new software process, you can practise it and repeat it independently. Tekla experience is not required—we will teach the detailing tools and workflows.
This could be drawing, CAD, mechanics, programming, model building, electronics, woodworking or another interest. We want to understand what you practised, how you handled mistakes and how you improved.
You will begin with 2D steel drawing editing, learning to produce clear, accurate drawings used for fabrication and construction.
The 2D QA Checker will assign your editing work and oversee your development. You will learn to:
The early work includes repetition. You need to be willing to master the fundamentals and maintain care as tasks become familiar.
Training, practical examples and feedback will support your progress. Reviews at 2, 4 and 6 months will assess whether you are retaining learning, reducing repeated errors and handling more work independently.
As your capability develops, pathways may include advanced 2D/GA editing, QA or structural steel modelling. Progression follows demonstrated strengths and readiness.
Engineering, architecture or a related technical qualification is strongly preferred. Applicants with drafting/CAD training or relevant practical technical experience will also be considered where they can demonstrate spatial reasoning, confident desktop computer use and the ability to learn and apply technical instructions. A degree, previous detailing employment and existing Tekla expertise are not required.
