Job summary

ENGIE Philippines is seeking a senior backend/data engineer to provide technical leadership on cloud-based energy trading product(s). You will drive secure, high-performance applications and data capabilities, guide engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders on architectural decisions.

The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience, strong Python expertise, Kubernetes/Docker, and solid CI/CD and DevOps practices. Experience with serverless, cloud design, and databases is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Computer Science or related courses with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in designing robust web applications in the cloud.
• Experience with serverless and microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container technologies (Docker).
• Experience using Generative AI to support software development (advantage).
• Strong experience in unit and integration testing.
• Strong expertise in Python (additionally AWS boto3, Django, Flask are an advantage).
• Skilled in designing, deploying, monitoring, and operating scalable, highly available cloud systems
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps pipelines, and automation.
• Proficiency in object-oriented design patterns and modern engineering principles.
• Good understanding of relational/NoSQL databases and big data concepts (advantage).
• Good understanding of application and network security.
