Job summary

The Bit is seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Engineer to join a remote, client-focused team supporting US-based environments. You will design and implement automation, manage Linux/Unix servers across on-prem and cloud, and ensure secure, scalable operations.

Senior-level expertise with Ansible, DNS, virtualization, and scripting is essential. You will collaborate across teams to optimize automation strategies, monitor systems, and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

Proficiency with RHEL across multiple versions (6/7/8/9).
Strong automation using Ansible, Terraform, Puppet.
Deep Linux/Unix system administration experience.
DNS administration with BIND and Infoblox.
Networking fundamentals and packet analysis.
Scripting in shell and Python; performance tuning.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain automation workflows with Ansible for provisioning and configurations.
Manage Linux-based systems for performance, security, and reliability.
Install, upgrade, and migrate Linux/Unix/AIX servers with focus on security.
Create Ansible playbooks and modules for infrastructure deployment.
Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
Administer Infoblox DNS and BIND DNS environments.
Support virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, OpenStack, Xen).
Implement monitoring and proactive issue resolution; maintain docs.
