We're looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to own the design, performance, and reliability of our Linux server estate. You'll be the go-to expert for Linux systems architecture, automation, and troubleshooting, spanning on-premises and cloud-hosted infrastructure (AWS and Azure).
Key responsibilities:
Own the architecture, build, and ongoing administration of Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, AWS Linux or similar) across the environment
Perform deep-level troubleshooting across kernel, filesystem, storage, memory, and networking layers
Harden systems against security vulnerabilities: patch management, CIS benchmarking, access controls, and audit logging
Support and extend infrastructure into AWS and Azure where workloads run in the cloud — provisioning compute/storage, managing IAM, and integrating cloud-hosted Linux systems into existing monitoring and automation
Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery/backup strategy for Linux-based systems
Participate in on-call rotation, drive incident response, and lead root-cause analysis and postmortems
Document system architecture, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on Linux administration best practices and troubleshooting methodology
Partner with security, networking, and application teams to ensure systems meet compliance and reliability requirements
About you:
5-7 years of experience in Linux systems administration/engineering, ideally across large-scale, production environments
Deep expertise in Linux internals: process management, filesystems, networking (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls), storage, and performance tuning
Strong scripting/automation skills (Bash required; Python or similar strongly preferred)
Working knowledge of virtualization (VMware, KVM, or similar) and containerization (Docker; Kubernetes a plus)
Practical experience running Linux workloads on AWS and/or Azure — provisioning, IAM, networking, and cost-aware operations
Strong understanding of security hardening practices and compliance requirements (CIS benchmarks, patch management, audit logging)
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to stay methodical under pressure during production incidents
Strong communication skills and the ability to document and explain technical work clearly
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) (preferred)
