Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to advance ITSS learning programs by converting content into blended, digital, and self-paced formats. You will apply learning science and performance-based design to develop scalable training that aligns to business outcomes.

You will mentor Content Developers, manage end-to-end projects, and collaborate with stakeholders to measure effectiveness and drive improvements across ITSS.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of instructional design or equivalent L&D experience.
• Experience with blended learning, eLearning, ILT/VILT, simulations, microlearning.
• Experience using learning analytics to measure effectiveness and inform improvement.
• Solid knowledge of ADDIE/SAM or similar design methods and performance-based design.
• Strong stakeholder management and project management skills.
• AI skills: apply AI tools to accelerate content analysis and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Lead the instructional design strategy for ITSS learning programs using learning science and business outcomes.
• Manage end-to-end learning design projects with scoping, timelines, and SME engagement.
• Design blended learning solutions: eLearning, ILT/VILT, microlearning, simulations, assessments, and performance support.
• Mentor Content Developers and less experienced Instructional Designers on design practices.
• Partner with stakeholders to evaluate learning effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
• Comply with employment contracts, policies and directives and adapt to organizational changes.
